Supply List for Filament Fantasy
Note to Workshop Chair: We will need about 5 irons/ironing surfaces for the class, and each student will need at least 1/2 table, and electricity for their machines.
Materials Fee: $15 (payable at class to instructor), includes directions and pattern for quilt, foil, painted Steam a Seam II Lite, topstitching needle, moleskin, fusible woven interfacing, Sewer’s Aide, Bonding Agent 007, and access to my threads for experimentation. Please note: You do NOT need to make hearts if you don't want to – you can make squares, diamonds, leaves, circles, or any simple shape – but then you'll have to draw them yourself!
Note to Workshop Chair: We will need ironing surfaces and irons – about 5 for the class, and each student will need about 1/2 table plus electricity for their machines.
Fabric:
Threads - This class is about threads, so bring some of all of your threads - cotton, metallic, rayon, twisty metallic, fine braid, sparkly yarn, whatever you have. You may also experiment with my threads as much as you like during class. You will find it easier to sew with Yenmet, YLI, or Superior (fine metallic threads) threads as opposed to Sulky or Guterman; Superior Glitter thread; and Madeira Jewel Black Core FS#20 and Glamour (just in case you have no fancy threads and want to get some of your own).
Other Stuff to Bring (Yes, You Really Do Need this Stuff!)

Fabric:
- Bring approximately 1 yard of pretty background fabric (vibrant hand dye or batik in reds/pinks/flame colors works well, but bring any color you like.) Cut 4 pieces of this fabric into 6-1/2 inch squares before you come to class
- Four pieces of any old muslin, cut 6-1/2 inches square to use as stabilizing fabric for the first four blocks before you come to class
- 1 yd of back of quilt fabric. Cut 4, 7" squares of this fabric before you come to class
- 4 pieces of batting cut 7" square. You will need more batting, but not in class.
- ¼ yard fabric that contrasts with your pretty background fabric (for appliqué and reverse appliqué hearts). Do not cut this up yet.
