WORKSHOPS

I love teaching workshops! In 2003, I won the Teacher of the Year designation partly because one student said "she put the knowledge in my hand." It's such fun to watch people realize that quilting can actually be fun, that you don't always have to make corners match and points sharp, that it really is okay to dive into playing and experimenting with fabric paints, metallic paint powders, Solvy, foil, foil glue, Mistyfuse, Lutradur, Puff Paint, glitter glues, Bonding Agent 007, melted painted cellophane and sheer fabrics, Paintstiks and other fine toys, and combine everything into a believable, three dimensional art quilt or garment. Below, you will see thumbnail photos for hands-on workshops and online classes, and links to the other pages which contain more pictures, descriptions, and a supply list for each workshop.
Most classes have a $20 supply fee, except for demonstration-only classes, which have no supply fee.
- 3-Hour Workshop $300 (plus expenses)
- 6-Hour Workshop - $500 (plus expensess)
- 2-day Workshop - $850 (plus expenses)
- 3-5 day workshop - $400 per day (plus expenses)
- If traveling beyond driving distance, additional shipping fees for quilts/garments for talks will apply, based on air travel suitcase expense fees.

Winter Wonderland
This is a very fun class, where you create a winter scene in the deep woods. It began with a photo of Yosemite in winter, just after a snowfall. You create this from start to finish, painting the background, making the trees and snowbacks using Puff Paint, painting the reflectings, then adding Lutradur borders and your own, personal focal point. Great fun, and you don't even have to get cold!

Mermaid Lagoon Jacket
In this class, you create a pieced jacket with an appliqued front and back yoke, heavily embellished with silk ribbon embroidery, tiny fishes, a trunk full of doubloons and jewelery, a mermaid, seaweed, and whatever else you can think of to create the watery scene. This is great fun, and leaves you with a highly wearable, unique garment.
