Anyway, having finished the jacket, I decided to give it a whirl; after all, if it doesn't work out, I can always buy some yellow golf balls.
So, here's what's going on in the Schmidt Studio these days......
![]() So, I drew my brother, Johnny's, name for Christmas. He sent me an e-mail last week, saying he wanted either a sweatshirt, some yellow golf balls, a long sleeved shirt, or a quilt of the picture at the left. It's fairly lowering, his thinking that my quilts are only worth the same amount as a bunch of yellow golf balls, isn't it? Think I should tell him I sell my commission quilts for $150/square foot, and that he OWES me, big-time????? Nah, he'd never believe it. Anyway, having finished the jacket, I decided to give it a whirl; after all, if it doesn't work out, I can always buy some yellow golf balls.

Linda, not knowing your brother, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was giving you an 'out', but that adding the quilt at the end was a huge HINT that was what he really hoped for and would value! But then again, I have three very different brothers, one who 'gets' the value of my work way more than the others. Johnny on the Rocks is great by the way!

There is vitality, a life-force, a quickening that is translated through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through another medium. It will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is…It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. - Martha Graham
